Zendai MoMA project : the work in progress Shanghai Times
In the first day we had to look for a rope shop. Thankfully my Chinese assistant knew where to find anything (even though the communication between us was very hard).
After few days of bad surprises we had to go hunt for a chair, but the girls didn’t know where to find the kind of chair I was requesting and we always ended up into (mostly bad) design shop…
This chase for the right chair was simply a disaster ! At the very end I was seriously considering to tie up a big Mickey seen in those shops instead of a chair… But eventually I found one pretty ok, we would need to make her need legs that’s all.
I spent the last day of the installation schedule with the big Chinese Assistant, who speaks barely 5 words of English, wasting my time on a big misunderstanding… -_-”
But luckily, my ‘ok’ chair turns into a wonderful citation to Cronenberg’s Crash film !
This is incredible…
And so I spend my day off actually doing the installation and litterally hoping in the plane just after I’ve finished it ! crazy times…. but it was fun… so much pressure and obstacles
