From the quotidian to the opulent, the ubiquitous chair (in its infinite variety of forms) has long been fetishised in art and design.

Chair Bondage

Kennedy James has a peculiar fascination with traditional and modern Japanese culture and is intrigued by its ancestral folklore and rituals. Through anthropomorphic subjects, her work explores the human psyche, the animal/human duality and eroticism.

Her Serial Bondage installations have been shown in the United States, Europe and Asia.

Kennedy James was born in France in 1981. She relocated to the United States in 2010 and currently lives in Philadelphia.
